What does an inspection at a triple A center run these days? It seems to me that people hardly ever use their service anymore before buying a used car. Is that true? I wonder what a dealership would say if you insisted on the (used) car going to triple A before you you bought it. I'm reminded of this because I'm negotiating to buy a 2002 Mazda pickup in Cali, Colombia. Here the inspection which is called a "peritaje" is just about obligatory if you don't want to get robbed. Any dealer will happily send the car over to the inspection center and the centers do a very thorough job. I was saved from buying vehicals with bad motors or frame damage on three occasions already. The last one I brought in before this 2002 was a '99 Mazda 4x4. The peritaje showed it was putting out 93 HP DIN instead of the factory 140. The inspection here costs $37.
