You do realise that you can talk about generics of a race, or group, or country, without stereotyping individuals from that group?
Examples include: debating / asking / trying to solve the dilemna of a group in a country that suffers from:
- poverty / cycle of poverty
- poor health
- shorter life expectancy
- higher representation in jail
- the contributing factors behind the above, etc?
No sane person would think that talking about the above in generics = all of that group have that problem. No sane person thinks that if you are trying to help solve a problem, then you think every person from that group must have that problem...that would be rather delusional.
All of those result from debate on an issue that is prevalent within a particular group.
The standard that applies to trying to help, can also be applied to criticism. It's a standard / principle that can be applied both ways.
