Here's the palazzo itself.

I'll look more in google for the painting. The name is Ruskin, by the way.

Do you know how to use Google.com?

Hmm. I knew that Ruskin was a fine draftsman, but I don't think I knew he was a painter.

I'm having no luck so far in finding a painting of Ca' Foscari by Ruskin. Maybe your spelling, Rushkin, is right, and they're different people. I'll keep looking. In the meantime, here's another link on Ruskin.

Yes, John Ruskin, who wrote Stones of Venice, was also a painter...

I still can't find a link to that painting. I did look up Rushkin, instead of Ruskin, and it seems to be a common misspelling of Ruskin while referring to the 19th century artist and critic.

I did see that Ruskin had done 300 paintings. I have only seen a few so far online.

rushkin
is this misspelling of rushkin a common mistake or are there actually two different people, ruskin and rushkin? i came across the painting in a decorative arts book, and it referred to the artist as rushkin. i've been continuing my search for the image and am no further forward, but i really appreciate all your help so if you find anything before i do, let me know!
thanks again
naomi

I've stopped looking, 'nuff for me. The famous critic and artist who studied and painted Venice, where the palazzo is located, is named Ruskin. I have the Stones of Venice book by him, I know it's Ruskin. A few web links describe the same person as being Rushkin; it is clear to me it is a misspelling.

If by some odd chance another person with a similar name ever went to Venice and painted a palazzo, I couldn't find it listed on google in my own search.

I'm sure it was Ruskin. He was quite influential and famous, and, as ossobuco suggests, there should be a ton of info about him on Google.

Check it out, naomi!

Perhaps the author of the interior design book gave a citation somewhere in the book's bibliography or in an index, or a courteous acknowledgtement of whoever let him or her use the photo in a book.

John Ruskin on google leads to 159,000 links.

Are you sure it's a painting? It might be a drawing in the Stones of Venice book...
