smell from brakes

the other day I noticed the smell of burning rubber

i checked under the hood, the smell was not there, but the smell was very strong in my right fron and right rear wheel wells

I'm not quite sure what the issue could be...my breaks are not very good but they do work, I was not driving with my parking break on...I was in stop and go traffic so I was using my break a bit

anything I should be concerned about or check for?
