I'd throw in a splash of color (orange?) on the tiger and, of course, fix the resolution.

tried to incorporate all of your comments

the best way to put a splash or orange on the "tiger" found was to put an orange stripe behind it, which gives the suggestion that the whole thing is orange. unfortunately this stripe is unbalanced compositionally so I had to undo it

by the way its not a tiger, it's a catamount. see?

Look good but the spacing in "invitational" is tricky with that font. The T's merging not good and the "v" spacing to the "I" is off. Rule of thumb is that letters that have a lot of negative area within thier "block" should be closer to other letters next to them and very close if two letters like two "T"s are next to one another. This dictates the average spacing along the line of type. Letters should no merge (the "4" in 2003 should have a hairline space from the "0"). You could balance the orange in the "2004" by giving the catamount orange eyes.
I'd also slightly darken the half tone.

stuh505,

I think the large cat "face" is to much. The smaller cat with the type treatment is a nice identity all by itself. The large cat just distracts from it.

Also, although I like the pocket graphics, you are changing the look of your identity. To stay consistent you should keep one or the other (the cat eyes with the type treatment or the cat on top on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu).

That is why I suggested the half-tone was too light on the first logo.
