Apart from countries like Britain, Canada, Australia and the United States, there are about 70 countries, including Nigeria, Singapore and India, where
English is ….. official language.
An official or the official language?
And please explain why?

If it is the only official language, use 'the official language'.

If there are more than one official language, it is 'an official language'.
