Dehumidifier trips breaker

Reply Sat 2 Jul, 2016 07:02 am
It has just started in the past two days where our dehumidifier is tripping out the breaker. There is only one other thing on the circuit with the dehumidifier and it has been that way for a few years. It is our alarm system which is not a huge draw on the circuit.

The dehumidifier is plugged into a heavy duty appliance extension cord which also has not had any issues over these years.

Check out the breaker. Breakers eventually wear out.
Try it without the extension cord, for a day.

Is it a gfci breaker or a regular overload-only breaker?

@boswell999,
It could be a problem with the dehumidifier. First, unplug the dehumidifier and see if the breaker keeps tripping.
