replace plug with fuse?

I have a dual fan window fan that has a fuse in the plug. The fuse is bad and I have not been able to find one to replace it. Is it ok to replace the plug with a regular plug?

Gen I'd say yes, provided only that you confirm it's connected in the hot side

If the fuse blew, there is a high likelihood that something is wrong with the fan.

A commonn scenario: those pesky fuses... blowing all the time... must be faulty... we'll bypass it... Hey! what's all that smoke? FIRE!!! HELP!!! OH MY GOD THE INSURANCE WON'T PAY OUT!!!!
