I have a 120v light in that barn that is controlled by a switch in the house. I don't have 220 available in the barn. I would like to switch the outside barn light to a 220v light. Is there a way to do it without having to run 220v wiring from house to barn so I can use the switch thats in the house?
@brandonjenings,
You could power the present 120-v line with 220 v instead. Then inside you could change to 220-v bulb (or two 120-v bulbs connected in series). However, you'd be deprived of the lower voltage, which might have served something else
@brandonjenings,
Why would you want to put in a 220v light? Lights are cheap and 120V lights are standard. Messing with your wiring to put in a 220v light seems like the tail wagging the dog.
@cicerone imposter,
Yea Cis, Eng is much smarter than me, just like my BH
@dalehileman,
Nah, I'm just too lazy to rewire my garage for a light.
@engineer,
Eng, once more again, revisited....
