I bought 200amp(?) wire to run from 200amp outside box to 100amp inside box. Electrician says wire can not be used to hook up t0 100 amp box . He wants me to buy new smaller wire, but I will lose $300 by doing that because I cant take the wire I have back. Can I put a 200amp box inside and use the wire that I have?

@scaredofelectricity,
Scar, you first hafta ask him why. Maybe it has something to do with the size of the terminals, which you can easily haywire

@dalehileman,
Yes, he said that the larger wire was too big to fit into the 100 amp box. What does haywire mean.

@scaredofelectricity,
Scar, haywire means makeshift, something contrived
