Who would you like to see host the Oscar Ceremony?

In recent years Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Steve Martin have hosted the Academy Awards Ceremony. This year Steve Martin is scheduled to return as the show's host on March 23rd.

With all the talent in our country, I think it's time for the Academy to try a new choice. Who do you think would make a good MC?

I think its time Miss Piggy got the recognition due her. She'd be great.

Ain't met you yet, I don't think, couzz ... welcome aboard.

It's a tough job - the host needs to be entertaining and quick enough to ad-lib when there's a delay onstage.

Whoopi is my personal favorite of those we've had so far. In future: Ben Stiller? Nathan Lane? Who do you think couzz?

Nathan Lane...absolutely perfect. He has a light touch and his timing is great. Write the Academy: [email protected]

He co-hosted the Tonys with Matthew Broderick. Last year? Or maybe that was 2001? They did a good job, but the Tonys are different - not so high-profile...

The last couple of years have been kinda up in the air for me. I really liked Billy Crystal, especially the year Jack Palance did the one-armed pushups. It was hysterical the way Crystal threw away his script after that and ad libbed for the rest of the nite. But Whoopie, her first year hosting, wore rich, magnificent flowing gowns and robes and she looked terrific. She has her own style of humor tho' and sometimes, from one Black woman to another, what she thinks is funny isn't so funny to me. And Robin Williams gets so manic sometimes, he's just plain aggravating.
Perhaps all three can host. What was the act they had some years ago with the three of them? Didn't they take it on the road? I remember hearing Robin Williams refer to Whoopie as "Madam Whoop." Cute.

Whoopi, Robin, and Billy get together and do Comic Relief from time to time. I believe it was a fundraiser for the homeless. They were really funny together...

That's it. Comic Relief.
Steve Martin was a very good host. Very smart. But somewhat forgettable.

I like Jon Stewart and Ellen Degeneres -- they use the incredulous pause and facial expression with as much meaning as Jack Benny.
Both would be great with the one-liner zingers, actually as good as Leno. To throw one out of left field -- Bill Maher.

Maher a satirical book on the Iraq and terrorists situtation: "Riding with Bin Laden" and did an HBO special "Be More Cynical." BillW beat me to it about his new weekly panel show which will have a round of selected guests. He'll be able to get away with the language without bleeping on HBO, of course.

Actually I think it should be a group of people - so that one person does not have to do it all. An ensemble that can do skits of the movies being nominated, a sort of SNL flavor!

Preferably it would have Billy Crystal at the helm (it is after all the 75th, a big anniversary!) with Ellen Degeneres, Mike Myers, Nathan Lane and Megan Mulally (in character as Karen Walker from Will & Grace).

Why shouldn't David Letterman get another try?
