Yes...I am a fan of all of your choices and to be honest...the first two GCS albums are my favorites. The first album got me due to the acapella interlude.
Check these out:
1. Change - "A Lover's Holiday"
2. Little Sister - "You're The One" - a big hit for Sly Stone's little sister.
Yeah...love all of your choices...a huge fan of India.Arie....here are some more of my favorites:
1. Rufus feat. Chaka Khan - "Maybe Your Baby" - their version of the Stevie Wonder classic from their very first album before the hit "Tell Me Something Good"
I am absolutely a fan of these choices. Someone had given me this double CD compilation that had all extended dance versions on them and the jams you picked were featured as well.
The Live performances are grainy, but this is Cameo in 1980 live performances side by side with the studio album recordings.
Cameo (Album version of the song: I Just Want To Be)
(and Live version of the song: I Just Want To Be)
Cameo (Album version of the song: Cameosis)
(and Live Performance of the song: Cameosis)

@jjfree38,
If I remember correctly, I believe Jesse Johnson was in the group with Morris Day and The Time. I'm not completely sure. Rick James Cold Blooded was a good jam. James Brown was the true godfather of funk. Cameo had uniquely funky sounding instruments. If you listen to some of Cameo's early songs, listen to the different sounds coming from their instruments. Songs like: Shake Your Pants, I Just Want To Be, and Flirt. Also listen to the vocal arrangements of those same early songs. Their vocal arrangements were smooth and unique among funk groups.
