hello. I'm studying for the new SAT and i came across a question i couldn't understand.
apparently, this answer choice is corret but i do not understand how

"Another visitor noticied my fascination with a tiny writing desk and its drawers, dotted with pin-sized knobs."

isn't this still dangling modifier?? since DOTTED WITH PIN-SIZED KNOBS modify the another vistor??
for instance, if i write...

the speaker explained his reasons, dazzling his audeince.
in this case, the modifier describes the subject = speaker

can someone plz help me out!? thx

@kaley,
No, not really--". . . dotted with pin-sized knobs." modifies ". . . a tiny writing desk and its drawers." It does not modify "Another visitor . . ." Also, a dangling modifier, as i understand it, modifies a word or term not clearly stated. That is not the case here, either.

When you write "dotted with pin-sized knobs" to describe a modifier, in your third paragraph, you have made it into a singular item. So, one would write: "dotted with pin-sized knobs modifies," rather than using "modify."

A correction: ". . . dotted with pin-sized knobs." simply modifies ". . . its drawers."

Setanta is right. But he should have written:
A correction: ". . . dotted with pin-sized knobs" simply modifies ". . . its drawers."
Not:
A correction: ". . . dotted with pin-sized knobs." simply modifies ". . . its drawers."
That is, the red point (I made it red to emphasize it) should be removed.

I don't know why Setanta was voted down, since his correction answer above is correct. I can only assume it was done out of malice.
