Logan's Run is just a sanitized and "glamorized" version of George Lucas' first feature film, THX 1138. That film did not do well in the original release, in part because of nudity, which earned it an "R" rating. I thought Logan's Run was pallid in comparison, and ruined by the glitzy nature of sets and costumes.

Among the French sci-fi oldies, Barbarella by Vadim based on graphic novels by Forest was highly watchable.

There’s also been a slew of post-apocalyptic movies in the 70s, 80s and 90s, of which Malevil was IMO the best. Caro & Jeunet also produced a few good ones, eg Delicatessen.

But the post-apocalyps sub-genre is a bit borderline - no rockets, no time travel etc. so some may not see it as sci-fi. Remember I am a Legend, Brasil, or The Road? Are these sci-fi?

Really? I thought that gave it a bit of reality. Society is always going for more Bling, but THX was good too.

@Leadfoot,
Frankie Boyle is on youtube. Most of his stuff is standup, but he did one sketch/standup show, Tramadol Nights. That's where the Knightrider stuff came from.

18. V
.
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century:
An early 80s tv sci-fi ? I only remember the robot twiki nah just joking. I was only 11 or 12 at the time. Yes I had a crush on Colonel Wilma Deering hahaha! only the pretty ones they say. It was only a tv G rated series for family viewing. Cool custumes and spaceships
.
Space 1999
Yup I remember that one, 1975-77 British sci-fi tv series. I was very young though 9 or 10yrs old I think. I remember that woman Maya that can change into a tiger or something. And yes their spaceguns were shaped like staple guns
.
Logans Run
Yup I remember that one. The main character went around with that android guy looking for a place called Sanctuary or something. And yes how could I forget their solar-powered vehicle, it was a spectacle back then.
.
The Man from Atlantis:
1970s tv series, Yup Patrick Duffy diving and moving in an odd way under the sea like hes trying to have sex with the water. Ah yes when he touches sea water he turns into superman and kermit the frog. I liked it when i was younger, easy story-lines ,very entertaining
.
Dark Angel:
I saw a little bit of it, too talky and emotional for an action freak like me
.
Sliders:
A 90s tv sci-fi, I don't remember this one. I think I was out partying and God knows what else during those years
.
Ultraman
Nope never seen this one. From the wiki-review, A 1970s Japanese superhero iron man-like character. Gees Realmusic what country do you live in?
.
Spectreman
Another 1970s Japanese super hero Ultra man-like character. Realmusic, are you Japanese?
.
Space Above and Beyond
Another 90s tv sci-fi, Nope never seen this one, I was probably out partying
.
First Wave:
A late 90s tv sci-fi, haven't it. The wiki- review sounds interesting, aliens living among humans getting ready to take them over. I hope theres heaps of action
.
The six million dollar man:
The 1970s tv series, yes i remember Steve Austin, part robot, part human, his eye was hilarious ay, it made that funny noise
.
Warehouse 13
2009-2014 tv series, Nope never seen this one. Maybe it will come on our public tv here in NZ soon.
.
Lost in space:
I liked the old one when I was a kid especially Dr Smith the trouble maker like me.
.
Andromeda
2000 movie, surprisingly no I haven't seen it after all these years. Looks good from the cover presentation, I'm curious, hope its a good one
.
Eureka:
2006-2012 tv series, no I have never seen this one either, gees i've missed a lot haven't I. A town of technological geniuses who work for the government, who have a series of dangerous adventures. The review said it has exceptional special effects, interesting...
.
Quantum leap:
1989-1993 tv series, yes I remember this one, with those two guys making leaps through time with actor Scott Bakula from Star Trek. Not a watch for serious drama and action fans. More G rated viewing for the family...
.
Alien Nation
Another 1988 sci-fi movie I have not seen. The review said its an alien and cop action movie. The aliens remind of those cone head aliens. I'm looking more for technology concepts rather than alien concepts.
.
V
A 2009-2011 tv series which I have never seen either. The review says its about aliens disguising themselves human-like saying they come in peace for minerals or something in exchange for their advanced technological knowledge, but have a secret sinister agenda. Sounds a bit interesting, I don't know if theres any cool special effects though...

I read "Malevil" and thought it quite good. I didn't realize a film was made of it. I know the author was French...filmmaker too?

Ever read "False Dawn" by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro? A good one within the Post-apocalypse genre.

@Amoh5,
V is a favorite - and I thought Lost in Space's Dr. Smith, the robot, and how Don really wanted to cave Dr. Smith's face in all the time was a hoot on Saturday mornings in the late 60s.

They also did The City of Lost Children. It's one of the few movies that I've bought on DVD.

2000s TV series.

It's where Kevin Sorbo ended up after Hercules/Xena.

Also where Lisa Ryder ended up after Forever Knight.

And it gave Lexa Doig her start in major Sci Fi.

I'm not aware of any Andromeda movie in 2000 (although there was an "Andromeda Strain" book/movie back around 1970).

1980s TV series. 2009 was a reboot.

@Amoh5,
During the 1970s when I was a kid, I used to watch Ultraman and Spectre Man on American television. Back in those days American television had two types of channel frequency. We had VHF (Very High Frequency) channels which were the three major networks ABC, NBC, and CBS. FOX channel did not exist back then. The VHF channels had the better picture and sound reception. We also had UHF (Ultra High Frequency) which were two or three non-network channels. They would be really small local channels with extremely poor sound and picture reception. We really had to play with the antennas and rabbit ears to get some kind of a weak reception. One of those local UHF channels would be the PBS (Public Broad Casting station) for the local area. On these UHF channels I used to watch the Benny Hill show and the original Doctor Who series (Great Britain). I used to watch the Paul Hogan show (Australia). I used to watch Ultraman and Spectre Man (Japan). We saw quite a bit of foreign shows on our UHF channels although the video and audio reception was very poor.

Andromeda was not a movie. Andromeda was a television series (2000-2005) starring Kevin Sorbo. Although Alien Nation was a movie in 1988, it was also a television series (1989-1990).

Talking about these old Sci-fi movies and television series are bringing back a lot fun memories.

@Real Music,
Benny Hill! You little pervert hahaha! He was funny ay with that naughty little old man, patting him on the head when he got lucky with those kinky dressed young girls. Speaking about memories I'm listening to America's horse with no name at the moment while texting my post to you on my cellphone, on the public bus. I was only 4yrs old when the song came out in 1971.
I was brought up with Jon Pertwee playing Dr Who.
Yes I haven't seen Andromeda and a lot of others, maybe they didn't get big ratings down here in NZ why I missed them. Masters Of The Universe had some good ideas, a little childish in some aspects but awesome in other aspects. Skeletor was a hilarious evil character, maybe hes Darth Vader's cousin... Very Happy

@Amoh5,
Until you reminded me, I forgot how Benny Hill used to run around chasing kinky dressed young women. I had forgotten about the little old man being patted on the head. The video would be in super fast pace. Thanks for helping me to remember.

I remember watching the original Doctor Who on American PBS channel when I was a kid. I just don't have any memory of what I actually saw on the original Doctor Who. If I watch the original Doctor Who now, it would be like watching it for the very first time. I am a huge fan of the modern day Doctor Who (2005- present).

You mention He-Man Masters Of The Universe. That bring back my memories of Sci-Fi cartoons.

1. She-Ra Princess Of Power
2. Star blazers
3. Battle Of The Planets
4. Speed Racer
5. Marine Boy
6. Voltron
7. Thunder Cats
8. Transformers
9. Space Ghost
10. Herculoids
11. Thundarr The Barbarian
