SiCp/Al Composite?
What does p stands for in SiCp/Al composite?
It s composition consist of SiC and Al alloy so from where that p came from?

And
As coefficientofthermal expansion is more for Al than SiC particles how cooling induces compressive stress on SiC particles & tensile in Al?

@bhu2727,
The answer to your first question is in the second one:

Quote:
The silicon carbide whisker (SiCw) and silicon carbide particle (SiCp) were employed to prepare polystyrene/silicon carbide whisker/silicon carbide particle (PS/SiCw/SiCp) thermal conductivity composites

As for your second question, if you do your homework correctly, I'm sure you'll find the answer.

@bhu2727,
I recall its -Silicon Carbide (particle reinforced )Alumina. I think the p stands for the "particle reinforced matrix". Im sure its in the metallurgy apps
