Can I run my drain from my washing machine into my sump pump? My sump pump drains outside......THANKS
You will want to check with your locale's environmental protection laws.
e.g. In some areas, it is unlawful to wash your car in your driveway.
If it is legal to pump/dump your washwater on the ground, make sure the runoff won't enter a lake or stream, even in a heavy rain. IOW, all your water should percolate through the ground, not run off.
Your water should also not drain to the storm sewer, as this system in most areas drains directly to a lake or stream, without being processed.
General Tsao
you are, in reality, dumping grey water into the top of the water table. In your case, the sump pump drains shallow ground water from your basement(no?)
in times of drought, you will be dumping your washwater directly into the shallowest water table. If you have a spetic tank and drain field, you are , at least getting a bit of adsorption of the "big chunks" by the better drained ,unsaturated soil
