I thought Videodrome had a VR device and thought there was a scene where someone was a using a VR device to watch a roller coaster ride in virtual reality (I was wrong), and another person using the same device to watch simulated sex, but the person later went mad. I think the film came out in the 1990's, I googled Virtual reality films and Brainstorm rang a bell.

No, it's not The Lawnmower Man I've seen that, the movie I'm thinking of didn't have fancy CG effects.

The movie I was thinking of is Brainstorm, I emailed the director and he confirmed it.
