I am not sure what statistical test to use when i determine teh following:
1) i have a number of samples with the following data: 1- number of tree rings and 2) width of tree ring. i need to prove that the use of the mean of teh tree ring will be adequate in determining the total length (sum of all width of rings) over some length
@jay7777,
The correct method involves paying attention to your instructor.
Try using the index of your statistical analysis text book, also: keep notes from your lectures.
@jay7777,
What you need to do it show that the width is independent of ring position. Another approach would be to show that total width is a linear function of ring count.
