I think they're just softeners for formal situations.

be of use = to be useful
I want to be of use = I want to be useful.

be of help = to be helpful
Could you be of help? = Help me.

be of aid = to give aid
This will be of aid = This will help.

be of service = to provide a service
If I can be of service to you = If I can help you

be of assistance = to give assistance
This will be of assistance = This will help you
