1) It was such a long, boring flight (so I
was bored).
2) I read a really interesting book about
history (so I was interested).
3) Many people find spiders frightening.
The sentences stated above have been taken from the following link:

In 1 and 2 adjectives formed with -ing have been placed before noun; while in 3 it has been placed after noun. I don't know when it will be placed before noun, and when it will be after noun.

In the third sentence "frightening" is modifying "find."
It's like saying, "what many people find frightening are spiders."
"Frightening" would modify "spiders" if the sentence were written, "many people find frightening spiders."

Standard placement is before the noun. The pattern in 3) is an exception.
3) Many people find spiders frightening.

to be
frightening."
