I am two essays and a research proposal away from my post-grad degree in Infant Mental Health

This is from a few pages back -- but it caught my attention.

I wasn't aware there were that many infants on the verge of a nervous breakdown.....or suffering from stress and/or depression....or maybe obsessive/compulsiveness?......agoraphobia?.......split personality?....
diaper rash anxiety?.....

Heehee.....ahem.

Infant Mental Health is about understanding infant development (it is one of the most exciting areas of research at present) and what optimizes it, what are the factors mediating it, and the effects (multiple) of inadequate care/abuse. The neurology of neglect/abuse/poor attachment, eg, is pretty devastating.

It is also about learning how to intervene at macro and micro levels to improve outcomes for kids.

well, from february you'll have someone in the house to take care of screech. in the meantime, surely someone can help once or twice each weekend... your sis could do that little after all those years you've been helping her putting your own career on hold. though F or J would be probably easier.
Sooo exciting. Ya going for it? When does the whole thing start? you can always do some landscaping on the side maybe... at places where you can take boo with? dunno, but everything can be worked out, i'm sure. hooorah!

Dag IS cool. F. has said she'll do what she can to help (if by J. you mean my brother, I know I can't count on him).

I have several options. I can take courses on campus (very local to home) after work. Or I can take courses off campus, which is cheaper, on weekends. Either way I'd likely need some help with the animals. And, either way, one of the kids' parents would have to accomodate me with taking time off work. I can't do both - I can't take some courses on campus and some off.

The bonus with one off-campus location is that it's near my parents' house on the cape. They have offered to help with the animals on those weekends. But, that's a lot of commitment from them and they do like to travel. I don't know if I can take off-campus courses at various off-campus locations. hat's something I need to find out. If I do the cape cod course, I'd have to leave cambridge at noon on friday - that's a lot of time off, but it only happens around once per month.

Dag, this won't happen before Feb, I don't think. THANK YOU! Are you planning on staying here for 2 years?
