Weekend in Montreal

I'll be driving from Boston to Montreal on Saturday, July 3. I'll spend 2 nights there and then drive back on Monday, July 5. I plan to take I93 to I89 to the border, then Autoroute 35 to 10 to 15 into Montreal. I got these directions from mapquest.com.

Does this sound reasonable? Anything to beware of?

Also, does anyone have suggestions for places to eat and drink. I'll be meeting friends and we are just your average middle-aged guys with not especially sophisticated tastes. One of us lives near Montreal and has excellent French.

A must see. It was one of my favourite hangouts back in the days:

There are other links on the site you can check out as well.

As for the directions, I don't drive, so can't help you there.

Nah, that's too classy Slappy. It's on Rue Stanley, in the English part of town. Try St. Catherine's. Plenty of low down truly skanky peeler joints there, and the cover is usually cheap.

Heh heh, no Slappy, but my old roommate from university might know some of them.
