Help needed with Water softener selection

I am finding it difficult to decide between the following. Any help is appreciated.
Ecowater ERR3500 ($2300 taxes, installation included)
Aquamaster AMS900 ($1200 taxes, installation included)
Any other brand/models I should consider?

Family of 6, city water and 24-28 gpg.

I want a really good water softener and chlorine removal is not a must but if it comes with a good water softener without breaking the bank then I would take it.
