Idea I think I might have been Daniel, or The Story of Daniel? (The film, I mean.) But who was singing the song? It's on the tip of my tongue .... Confused

A famous black American activist .... he was hounded for his Communist beliefs ..... Question

I dunno about which activist you're talking about, MsOlga, I think most of the activists in the 60s and onward sang that song at least a few times.

I think the singing, in my mind, is a chorus of voices with a female lead, but I don't know where it's from or who is singing.

So guess which song is now lodged in my brain for the day? Yep, you got it! Laughing

Let it shine
Let it shine

Maybe both of us having this stuck in our brains, at the very same time, will have some sort of positive, cosmic effect, littlek? Laughing

(Paul Robeson sings it very slowly. It's very moving. A very sad film, but a very good one.)

Setanta said something about teeny boppers on another thread which made me think of bubblegum music:

I can see,
That there's no room for me.
You're only holding out your arms in sympathy.
If there's another man,
Go on and take his hand.
You know I'll understand
So don't you worry 'bout me.

Don't know who did that, and can't remember the rest of the lyrics

Last night we played this song as a tribute to a great honky tonker from central Florida:Gary Stewart. I think this might have been his only #1 hit on the country charts. Sadly, Gary died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound last December. I have fond memories of playing the circuit with him.

She's Acting Single

I've seen men look at her before
And they think, I don't see them
I'd like to think it makes me proud
But, I'm only.. fooling me

I know she'll be lookin' back
The minute I'm not there
While she pours herself on some stranger
I pour myself a drink somewhere

She's acting single
I'm drinking double
I hide my pain
I drown my troubles

My heart is breaking
Like the tiny bubbles
She's acting single
I'm drinking doubles

Weird; I have one going through my head too, Caps; 'Mediocre bad guys,' it's called, and it is surprisingly brilliant for a song with such a duff title...

O no! Was it an accidental gunshot, Panzade? When did you last play with him?

Thinking about things: how important is a good title, would you guys say?

Nobody thinks it was accidental. His wife and collaborator Mary Lou had died 2 months before of pneumonia...and he was quite distraught. They were married for almost 40 years. The last time I saw Gary was in 1988. His backing band: The Easy People Band are all good friends of mine.

Most of the time a good title won't save a bad song. Jack Johnson, is he a former surfing champion?

Tonight is the 11th annual after the Jimmy V tournament throwdown that I host at a local bar every year and I'm thinking of several of Charles Barkleys favorite songs that he sings every year.......Charles is a great guy....I really like him....but he sings like I hit the three pointer......
