The river flows
It flows to the sea
Wherever that river goes
That's where I want to be
Flow river flow
Let your waters wash down
Take me from this road
To some other town

All he wanted
Was to be free
And that's the way
It turned out to be
Flow river flow
Let your waters wash down
Take me from this road
To some other town

Flow river flow
Past the shaded tree
Go river, go
Go to the sea
Flow to the sea

The river flows
It flows to the sea
Wherever that river goes
That's where I want to be
Flow river flow
Let your waters wash down
Take me from this road
To some other town

Fourteen rivers, fourteen floods
Bend your body to the heavens above
Don't get drunk, don't get dry
Just bring your money next Saturday night

Fourteen miles on the Tanton trail
With a half-dead mule and nothing on my mind
All my life, I been talking fast
Taking all the things that I should've let pass

Throw my hat on a coffin nail
Put another brick in a fireplace
Well I don't know that you want me
But someone got loose back in the town

We did this song last night so of course its runnin round my head like a hamster on a wheel.

I hear people talkin' bad
About the way we have to live here, in this country
Harpin' on the wars we fight
An' grippin' 'bout the way things oughta be

An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides an'
Standin' up for things they believe in
When they're runnin' down my country, man
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me
Runnin' down the way of life
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep

If you don't love it, leave it
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'
If you're runnin' down my country man
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

I read about some squirrely guy
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'
And I wonder just how long
The rest of us can count on bein' free

They love our milk an' honey
But they preach about some other way, of livin'
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

This song by Carla Bruni is going around my head...

Excessivement gaie, excessivement triste,
C'est là que j'existe.
Mmmm, pas d'excuse ! Pas d'excuse !

I was playing in BFE(Okeechobee)
For some reason I'm getting calls to play every weekend. Not the norm. Small sidelight:
A young feller was sitting at the bar and I noticed he was transfixed by the band. On a break he came up and bought me a drink. Said he played in a band too, in Indiana. So he thinks he's gonna stump the band...asks for Bad Company. A band no country yokel band would know. Sure enough, first song the leader calls out is"Feel Like Making Love". It was awesome...with all the harmony parts spot on. Raised the tiny hairs.
But now a disclaimer. Bi Polar...now there's a musician I admire. Self-written songs...an original stage show...lights, effects...the whole nine yards.
In comparison we're a contrived juke box.

Is that far from where you are in Florida? You're no jukebox, Panzade. It takes a hell of a lot of skill to be able to play that much.

It's a hellish 50 minute drive each way on a God forsaken twisty road. I take my life in my hands every weekend. And...there was a time before I threw in the towel when I was proud of my playing...(shrugs)

I never would have thought it from your picture Very Happy... that must be a gratifying career!

(Do you know, Maya Angelou is now a Hallmark greeting card verse writer?!)

These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said
All I could say
My chick on the side
Said she got one on the way

I CAN'T GET THAT SONG OUT OF MY HEAD! What's worse is that it's just those exact same lyrics that keep on going in my head, even though I know the whole song. Rolling Eyes

May I ask whose singing it, littlek? The reason I ask is that I'm now trying to remember a (political) film that used the song in a very moving way. Darn, what was it? Confused
