Babs, Great to see you back. We were concerned.
A lot of songs are going through my head, cause my husband got a fabulous Jazz encyclopedia for Christmas. (early gift from my daughter)
I just this second (not really stuck in my head all day) was singing "Tomorrow, tomorrow....." But, I change the lyrics after that to "There's always tomorrow..... it's always a day away".
Hello there, Babs! Welcome back!
My second daughter (about 2) got her hands on Mum's lipstick and took to the bathroom walls with it. John English (an Aussie rocker) once had a song out called 'Hollywood Seven'.
For a week or so I wandered around the house singing:
Quote:I guess I bought the wrong one home
There were crazy lipstick markings on the wall
Hollywood seven, rooms for rent
Till your name goes up in lights
Hollywood Seven, you can dream your dreams
For seven bucks a night
I'm sure it has no bearing on my present divorce, none at all.
Stilly, this clever song popped into my head at the mention of lipstick writing.
It's another back-door sneakin' in
Where you been? midnight
Quiet as a mac truck-lotsa luck
Thinkin' up an alibi
But every light in the house is on
Everything is gone
She's left me no chance at redemption
No further exemption
Just a big red "Goodbye" in lipstick on the wall
Goodbye says it all
No long explanation
No reconciliation
No let's talk-it-over number I can call
Goodbye says it all
Goodbye...
stuck in my head this morning.
true believer
forever shall I roam
smoke dusted angels
in the darkness
as i cross the line
between bad and evil
nothing can touch me now
true believer
ash to ash
dust to dust
all i ever wanted
was power of the blood
( true believer - testament )
NO one needs to know-shania twain
Shania's stuff is incredibly easy to get stuck in my brain. Having a clever producer as her husband probably helps...
Pour Some Sugar On Meeeeeeeeeeeee
She's a great Canuck singer
yeah she is... nothing compares to her
Somewhere there's a stolen halo
I use to watch her wear it well
Everything would shine wherever she would go
But looking at her now you'd never tell
Someone ran away with her innocence
A memory she can't get out of her head
I can only imagine what she's feeling
When she's praying
Kneeling at the edge of her bed
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water
She wants someone to call her angel
Someone to put the light back in her eyes
She's looking through the faces
The unfamiliar places
She needs someone to hear her when she crys
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water
She just needs a little help
To wash away the pain she's felt
She wants to feel the healing hands
Of someone who understands
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water
(Big & Rich)
I CANNOT get that song out of my head ... which isn't all that bad really.
Suddenly Mary
Suddenly Mary fell in the water
Were not I weary I would have caught her
I watched for a moment and scrambled in
after
Words of disownment were drowned out with
laughter
I awoke from a peaceful sleep and found
my clothes under the table
Aesop used to make me weep but now I'm
part of Mary's fable
Suddenly Mary fell in the water
I found myself married to somebody's
daughter
Loving, she told me
Is a question of bravery
But when she started to hold me
It was closer to slavery
I got up for a bite to eat and found my
clothes inside the icebox
I used to stand on my own two feet but
now I sit when my new wife talks
Suddenly Mary fell in the water
She floated away with the ring that I
bought her
She had convinced me that I was a failure
I burned all my clothing and found a new
tailor
Suddenly Mary (repeat)
Suddenly Mary's fine (repeat)
I'll keep your monkey
I'll treat him good.
I'll talk to him like he talks to you.
I'll cut your corn
I'll keep it dry.
And maybe someday, someday, someday, baby
you'll come back to me .....
Played this one for the first time in ages today. I'd forgotten just how good Joe Henry was. Love it!
Still playing
Fuse today. It's rather compulsive!
I think I'll have to buy Tramopline, the previous Joe Henry effort.

I've got a line from Tenacious D's Tribute - "Play me the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul."
And we played the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Song in the World, it was The Best Song in the World.
Look into my eyes and it's easy to see
One and one make two, two and one make three,
It was destiny.
Once every hundred-thousand years or so,
When the sun doth shine and the moon doth glow
And the grass doth grow...
Needless to say, the beast was stunned.
Whip-crack went his Whoopy tail,
And the beast was done.
He asked us: "(snort) Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."
Rock!
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah,
Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh!
The sun DOTH shine? Rap is evolving into Elizabethan poetry...methinks
