Thanks for answering, Jes. I was extremely distressed at that point. It turns out that I got in by googling abletoknow.org, and could use it from there. No bookmarking (that's my safari browser in it's no-support mode), but I can live without the bookmark. I took quite a hit this week - yahoo and google and safari now only work in basic modes at this point due to the cutoff by all of them from supporting apple's Snow Leopard computers. Sort of computer death by a thousand cuts.

On the good side, now google doesn't send me all sorts of stuff about Albuquerque shopping possibilities.
