@ApollosEnvy,
What is non reality ? Even illusions are real illusions...what alternative is there to reality whatever reality happens to be ?

@Fil Albuquerque,
....thereby underscoring the proposition that the only way of dealing with the word "reality" is to recognize its use in a context which seeks consensus ! Smile

I suspect that the only poster trying to deal with words here, rather than the concepts they refer to, is.....

Who else?

@layman,
If you can't sleep, look up anti-representationalism. You might learn something !

@fresco,
The old nominalism vs realism debate goes back thousands of years. It's not a brand new insight discovered by Rorty, or whoever your hero is:

Quote:
Nominalism is a metaphysical view in philosophy according to which general or abstract terms and predicates exist, while universals or abstract objects, which are sometimes thought to correspond to these terms, do not exist...Nominalism is primarily a position on the problem of universals, which dates back at least to Plato, and is opposed to realism – the view that universals do exist over and above particulars.

@carloslebaron,
Hello carl thank you for responding to the topic! Regardless of our existence or not the question simply is, has reality always been? and will it always be? I'm not stopping at the existence of humans perception of it. Its a full question based on reality itself.

@Fil Albuquerque,
Well lets say for example. Your perception of reality stops when you die, so then you perceive non existence.

@ApollosEnvy,
Every time we witness change in us or in the world we perceive the non existence of what once was by perceiving the existence of what is now that is different.

Now what we can't do is perceive non existence has an absolute. For instance emptiness is not non existence, its space. Not to mention that if there is a perceiver obviously you don't even have emptiness to start up with.
