I'm hoping that someone can settle a grammar argument for me. Let me give some background information first. I am one of four hosts on a podcast that talks about movies and reviews them on a weekly basis. We recently changed our recording day from Wednesday to Monday. We were trying to decide whether or not to talk about upcoming movies for the weekend coming up, or the following weekend. I used the sentence below, and need to know if I should be using the apostrophe before or after the "s" in the word "weekends". Thanks in advance for your help.
Here's the post:
"Today was our first Monday recording, which is a permanent change. This has brought the question about which (weekend's/weekends') films should be discussed during 'Justin's Upcoming Attractions.' So with a new episode being released on Tuesday, would you rather hear about movies coming out THAT weekend or ones coming out the following weekend?"
Use: what weekend films (don't try to use a possessive)
I would discuss the UPCOMING weekend.
You would be correct to use the possessive apostrophe and letter 's' thus, if you were talking about films belonging to a particular weekend:
Which weekend's films shall we talk about? Those being shown during the upcoming weekend, or the one after that?
You can use the possessive to talk about things associated with a period of time: the day's tasks, the week's events, the previous month's income.
I still think it would be more clear with:
Which weekend films should be discussed during 'Justin's Upcoming Attractions'? Since they are released on Tuesday, would you rather hear about the movies from the upcoming weekend or ones coming out the following weekend?

Why would it be "more clear"?
@scottielindsay,
Quote: the question about which (weekend's/weekends') films
You are selecting one weekend, so it's singular; so you should write "weekend's".
Which weekend films should . . .
or
Which of the weekend's films should . . .
Thanks for the help, guys. It looks like it could have been worded better, but I still wasn't wrong. It sounds like the apostrophe on the outside of the word "weekends" is definitely NOT correct.
