Can the sentence"Though he underwent a lot of hardships in his life,he didn't lose heart and constantly strive to go on'be changed into "So many hardships as he underwent in his lifetime, he didn't lose heart and constantly strive to go on"?If not,how can it be inverted?

"Though he underwent a lot of hardships in his life = introductory clause that could be stated a number of ways.

Even though he underwent . . . .

In spite of a lot of hardships. . . .

Although he underwent . . . .

The main clause," he didn't lose heart and constantly strive to go on" needs to have the same verb tense.

he / did lose heart . . . and . . (he) / strove

(did + present tense verb = past tense)

He didn't lose heart and constantly strove to go on, despite the hardships that he underwent in his life.
