@Setanta,
I shivered when I heard the first sound of this (Ben E. King, Stand by Me) today. Might be my favorite video ever, and that's saying a lot. Well, maybe not, but it brought back good memories.

That last was from American Bandstand, a television program which for more than 35 years introduced American kids to the newest music. Here's a good example, J. P. Richardson, a.k.a., the Big Bopper . . .

Sam Cooke was one of my faves who inspired me to buy my first 45s. I learned to dance to these very records:

@ossobuco,
Two singing Caruso, one is Paolo Nutini, and the next, a loved italian singer songwriter, Lucio Dalla, who died in 2012.
wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucio_Dalla
There's another video with Luciano Pavarotti and Lucio Dalla, which I've not heard yet.
When I was inbued with my love of Italy back in the late eighties, sort of like a sledgehammer of interest, a friend told me about Dalla and gave me a cd of a live performance.

Ok, I heard it -

@ossobuco,
This is the cd she gave me; just looked, it was at the Village Gate in '86. Heh.

@Setanta,
Re the Trio, I saw them - I think in '63 at the ucla student union, Dave Guard gone then. Bought an album..
Depends, if I went with a girl pal, it would have been earlier and Dave Guard there.
Looked at the photo with your link again, and now I'm sure, it was '63 or early '64, and John Stewart.

I don't usually post the vids with lyrics, but this guy is a Canajun, so i thought i provide them as a service so everyone can understand . . . (The Girl will kill me when she sees that) . . .

That's his best known song in North America, but this is the one i like best . . .
