larvae ~ 1" long 3 color segements outside in wood post on deck

found in deck post. was told not termite damage, but water damage. Now find saw dust consistency funk, and small larvae. They are ~1" long with a pinkish head and white area then changes to grayish, then back to white. No noticeable body segments except maybe the head. Will post a picture if I see a place to do so.

sounds like termites. Here on the farm we set out "sacrificial" pieces of wood (like popsicle sticks) in the ground near posts of out buildings (we have a few lounging pens in outer fields). Often we see that some chewing damage is done to the popsicles and then we hve wood guy come in to replce posts and then treat the subsoil and cover with stone rap.
