Hello sister, love the polka dotted hair!

I believe rule number 1 is:

Never question another sister.

<looks suspicious>

Yours in strapping sisterhood,

No no no no no Rule #1 has to do with makeovers.

Which reminds me <squealing> I mean, really! You, like, totally could use some exfoliating. And I mean that in the most nurturing and sisterly way imaginable. Just lie down and we'll start the waxing process too sweet!

I think that one's an actual girl. (Not about age, about Y chromosome or lack thereof.)

Welcome!

Welcome, Jjanet! :-D

PS I don't have any IRL sisters, either, just a coupla sisters in law.

And yeah, TGAS needs some massive exfoliating and seaweed wraps and stuff before we even consider. I mean, will ya just look at her shoes?!?

Of course, A2k has, indeed, reached a stage where introspection about the variety of folk we have here is important.

I wonder, do we have any of these?

"L'Enfant Provocateur likes to stir up trouble because...because, well...just because. This species of Flame Warrior is almost always young and male - it could be just a hormone thing."

Also - I believe there has been great unkindness to poor, follically and dentally challenged, Totally Girly and Such. I believe we owe our new sibling our best and brightest advice about becoming an accomplished woman - to this end I have created a thread especially for her edification and instruction in the secrets - no mins allowed, of course.

Here is this thread:

Sometimes I worry, here. I don't want to exclude real people on a2k, at least one of whom I think very well of, who is in a not so usual place on the range of sexuality and identifies as a woman. Within the sisterhood that I know, there is room.

But.. that was tangential to the key question, as in, is there a secret society of girl gang proportions. Hmmm, wouldn't you like to know...

Heavens - if, in such a nonsensical thread as this, there is to be a moment of seriousness, then I use it to declare that, unless there be some sort of odd and serious reasons to behave otherwise, then identifying as a woman is all that I, in the great warp and weft of the human fabric, would consider relevant.

As another sadly serious aside, I am researching risk and protective factors in resiliency at present, cos I have to teach 'em.

Anyhoo, a protective factor that appeared in some studies was androgyny - ie less "girly" girls and less "boyish" boys were more resilient.

So, be adventurous and un-frou-frou, goils - and be more expressive and pro-social, boys.

I am pretty un-frou-frou, but I don't always feel very resilient.

No - I don't frou a lot, and I'm part creampuff.

I think it is a factor, not a guarantee.

Though, dammit, I have resilled a lot, and I bet you have, too!
