@tsarstepan,
This just proves that Feminists are much more likely than North Koreans to vote on Rottentomatoes.

We will see how the box office numbers look.

no, a sanitized version of bdsm would have the woman going up to men begging them to beat her, this version has the man demanding that she allow him to beat her. This is so very wrong according to the feminists, as well as to many BDSM organizations. It is freaky how much a lot of BDSM groups agree with the feminists that sex should be a confined in a highly legalistic space, and that no pressure should ever be put on anyone to agree to anything. From the sound of it this movie represents what the people I hang with do, which is tell the sub what the conditions for a relationship are, and the sub can either agree or leave...sometimes with some minimal negotiations.

Interesting phrases at work here... Blown Up So Big
Sounds like something a rubber dolly aficionado would say.

Exotic knobs and knockers ....
Door fetish.

Not a film i'd go to see but then the chance of a bare breasted female jumping on the bonnet might tempt me.

@hawkeye10,
I suspect I hang with more feminists and more doms than you do. Both are heavily represented in my arts community.

Those who have reviewed the movie describe it as vanilla and even tamer than the badly written book. A few say there are stronger BDSM books in the Harlequin subgenre. It's no big deal.

Watch Secretary. It's closer to the real thing.

@ehBeth,
Better still go and see Shaun The Sheep. I saw it yesterday, and it was hilarious, they just kept throwing out the gags like Naked Gun. I've not laughed so much in a cinema for a long time. Everyone came out with a big grin on their faces unlike the poor sods who'd just seen 50 Shades, they all looked well pissed off.

RFLMAO....

It doesn't even take 3 minutes to see you are the one that is wrong....
Any BDSM website or blog will tell you that forcing anyone against their consent is rape.

And on a lighter note, a review from some of your favorite people.

@parados,
"These are the terms that I require to be in relationship with you" is not force, you know where the door is. Most if not all of our relationships are conditional, as are BDSM relationships.

@hawkeye10,
Your version of one side imposing their requirements on the other is not a relationship. It is psychological abuse. The BDSM community does not look kindly on that.

BDSM relationships like all others include compromise and negotiation. It is not imposed by one side. While there may be a very small subset of the community that might be willing to let one partner have complete control even before a relationship is negotiated, that is very small and most would not appreciate those circumstances.

This is what you are promoting:

@hawkeye10,
I think it is because it is a "film"so it is socially acceptable to see this rather than watch something similar that is called soft porn instead.

50 Shades of I Don't Give a ****

As I spoke with a lady friend she said that the audience gender ratio was 9:1 in favor of women. When asked of my lady friend...why not see it with your hubby? She said it was not an option as it was a planned event of ladies night out. Why would a man want to go see it based on that dynamic. Men can always see it on Netflix or PPV.

Furthermore, according to IMDB the reviews by movie-goers apparently is not so positive.

Consumer rating:
4.1/10 68,694 votes

That rating is decidedly negative. Average or mediocre is 6.5 -7.0 out of 10

Pay-per-view?! If I'm going to eventually see it, I'll do so in a way the studio doesn't directly get any money from me. Likely borrow a DVD copy from the library months after they get their copies AKA a relatively long time from now.

I still haven't seen any of that hideous Atlas Shrugged trilogy nonsense yet.

@Ragman,
It has already taken in $102 million dollars (not bad for a $40 million dollar budget). People seem to desperately want this movie to fail.

It is turning into a very big success. I bet most of the negative reviews are from people who oppose the movie on principle and haven't actually seen it.

@maxdancona,
That just means that there was a big appetite to see it. The second week numbers show if it is liked or not. Then you have movies like Avatar which keep going and going because people like it enough to see it many times.

Many people in the BDSM community consider this book/movie offensive because it has dangerous behavior and does not follow the idea of safe, sane, and consensual.

@Ragman,
Many people who actually do BDSM in real life consider SSC to be offensive. It is a hot button political issue, and it is also the justification that the bossy types in this community use for their authoritarianism. In the last ten years I have seen more people openly disregarding SSC and RACK, along with usually avoiding the clubs, which have become killjoy zones.
