Hello!

First of all, I wish you a Happy New Year!
As I have received a painting as a gift, I am curious about it.
I posted some photos of it, especially the signature of author.

Any idea about this painting would be welcomed!
Please see below some images.

Thank you very much!
Ioni

Print? Inexpensive frame, decorator "art". Up to a couple hundred in a shop, $5.00 in a thrift shop.

@Minas,
Yes, I am afraid it's a cheap print of a painting - not worth much. The frame probably cost more than the print.

But not much more.

It would be useful for me to know the author of the painting.
This painting is over 100 years old (it is a gift from my mother; she is 73 years old and she said to me that it was bought by her father when he was young). That's why I am sure it is over 100 years old.

@Minas,
A clearer, closer photo of the signature would be helpful.

Are you unable to decipher what letters are in the signature?

@Butrflynet,
I posted 3 pictures of it.
Yes, I am unable to decipher. Just the firt letter is "E"
I cannot read the rest of the letters.

You want the ARTIST, not the "author".

Remove the painting from the frame. See if it is a canvas or paper.

From the picture you can see it was not painted in oil...as they used to do 100 years ago. It's a print and unfortunately only will have sentimental values to you, but not monetary.

I know you did. You posted three photos of the painting that are not focused just on the signature. If they were close enough and of sufficient quality, I wouldn't have asked for something better. Until we have that, there isn't much more we can help you with. If you take another photo, center the signature in the frame and get as close as you can while keeping the entire signature in focus.
