Can anyone Identify These artists' Signatures?

The black tree is possibly vintage Circa 70's... medium is ink on paper signed JW.
The other one is turn of the century/early 1900's. Nails were used to stretch the canvas over the wood which usually indicates an older painting. Medium is oil on canvas, no idea on the signature.

Try photo cut then send to an art friend.
Although the first painting is a Japanese based style that was done in charcoal by a western artist. Initials of J. W. So just an off the wall don't trust me on this at all but James White from the 1900s is possible.
As for the second it appears to my untrained eye to be a oil painting styled after the old masters. But do to lack of yellowing of paper and extensive fading of paint it is either in a museum for art or a modern day replica. The artist initials are L.M. Do to basic language breakdown. No helpful guesses there.
