Known mainly as a protest band, they used to put on a great live show. This was a lighter side - their live version had extra lyrics.

Come and see the real thing
Come and see the real thing
Come and see
Come and see the real thing
Come and see the real thing
Come and see
There's a meaning there
But the meaning there doesn't really mean a thing
Come and see the real thing
Come and see the real thing
Come and see
I am the real, thing
Trying hard to understand the meaning that you'll see in me
Trying hard to understand the meaning that you'll see in me
There's a meaning there
But the meaning there doesn't really mean a thing
Come and see the real thing
Come and see the real thing
Come and see
I am the real, thing
It's a pretty amazing redemption story - in the early 80s he was pretty much a heroin locust in the Oz expat music circles in London- since then he's built a career on classy outsider music - and had to live through the death of his 15 year old son in 2015 through misadventure while on LSD.
Quote:
People are sharing Nick Cave’s open letter about the death of his son, Arthur, who died aged 15 in 2015, because it is so beautiful.
The singer was replying to a question on the Red Hand Files website earlier this month.
This is what the fan asked.
“I have experienced the death of my father, my sister, and my first love in the past few years and feel that I have some communication with them, mostly through dreams. They are helping me. Are you and Susie feeling that your son Arthur is with you and communicating in some way?”
I used to like this this Mondo Rock track (I had one degree separation with one of their roadies - who used to do session bass), back in 1983(?) - now it's a bit creepy.

This is my favourite track from Gotye - weird to think how many years it was before his duet with Kimbra became a worldwide hit.
