Does anyone know who made this, what it's called, and perhaps what it would be worth? I don't see a signature at the corners (maybe it's somewhere else or "hidden"?).

Thanks in advance!

I have no idea, but think that it is brilliant!

Looks like a quality thing, and very quirky.

@Lordyaswas,
Thanks!

Does anyone know what era it's from? I know it's obviously 20th century (definitely not 21st century as it's been around way before that), but anything more specific would be great to know.

@iGeo,
It's on canvas and it's like a sculpture on canvas if that makes sense.

Google image search shows no matches from what I can tell.

@iGeo,
Canvas? I assumed it was a thin bronze plaque, or something similar.

Even more fascinating. It certainly looks metallic.

What does it measure?

@Lordyaswas,
Oh I meant the base is canvas. Everything on top is probably metal (?).

I looked at the back of the artwork and it says canvas panel (15" x 30").

M. Grumbacher, Inc. is the panel manufacturer.

@iGeo,
I searched on the 'Bay and I see the same canvas panel back (but different size) from the manufacturer that's dated to 6/1970. So this could be from before then!

@iGeo,
Looking at the style of writing on that canvas, it could easily be 1950's.

My guess is that the style hasn't changed over the years, and your piece of art is probably 80's?

Just an aside.....my first thought when I saw it was Han Solo being encased in carbon. Star Wars was 1976/77?

I'm guessing 1981 ( places virtual £5 bet into box )

@Lordyaswas,
You're right, that style of canvas was around before the 1970's (at least 1966).

It could definitely be inspired by Han Solo though!

@iGeo,
Whoops, there is a signature! I did some research and it's by George Bertuccelli from 1966, a native of San Francisco, California.

@iGeo,
San Francisco? 1966?

We have our very own SF Hippie chick on A2K, who will probably have shared a spliff with the guy.

I'll give her a shout.

OSSO!

I bet she knows him, or of him.

Peace man.

@iGeo,
Don't sell it on ebay. You never get a good price there. Find a decent auction house that specialises in art.

Preferably one where there's lots of rich people.

@Lordyaswas,
Hippie chick? Honey, I'm pre hippie. Well, sort of.

Interesting piece. Only thing I recognized at all was the the Grumbacher panel.

@ossobuco,
Osso,

1.Did you have a floppy hat?
2. Did you decorate anything with flowers?
3. Did you sit, listening to obscure poetry?
4. Did you wear lots of beads?
5. Did you ever burn a jostick?
6. Did you ever dab yourself with petuli oil?

If you answered yes to any two of these questions, then I put it to you that you were a bit groovy.
