Prefer fresh veggies to frozen, so I tend to cook whatever is in season. So much is imported now, that, with the exception of things like fresh corn and fresh peas, I can find a year round wide variety.

Variety, the spice of life, is certainly to be found in out supermarkets. Although I question the wisdom of flying in fresh produce from far-away places (Israel or South Africa, for example) which seems to me to be quite mad.

Mad girl's song - Sylvia Plath

"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"

Plath was certainly a tortured soul, although many accused Ted Hughes of pushing her to the brink, particularly since his next wife also committed suicide, killing their child as well. I thought the movie "Sylvia" was dreary but well done, with a good performance by Gwyneth Paltrow, although much of what went on between Plath and Hughes still remained an enigma.

Enigma Variations- Elgar was it? I always get it mixed up with The Planets Suite; am I stupid or what?

What are you talking about? I just used the CSS in my IMS GUI WYSIWYG drag and drop DHTML editor to create a Javascript interactive drop-menu that links to the URL on my ISP host that I got from Internic."

I really do know what I am talking about. Do you? The fact is only a few months ago I would have had trouble with a couple of these terms.

"Terms of Endearment". That's another film we didn't go to see. Last night, we didn't go to see "Vera Drake"- despite original intentions to the contrary.

"Contrary to good manners" is labelled rude conduct in many sports I know, leading to sanctions.

Sanctions against pharmaceutical manufacturers are sometimes effective. Vioxx, for instance, was pulled off the market, causing a feeding frenzy by money hungry civil attorneys.

Civil attorneys are much more pleasant than the rude ones, I find. It's so difficult to beat a lawyer in an argument- they're devious devils by training, and most have hides like a rhinocerous.

Rhinocerous-like Ceratopsians ( "horn face" )

The reason the female RHINOCEROSE has the same armament as the male
"As she enters her mating period, her appetite falls off, and she begins to make shrill whistling noises when in the presence of a male. The male responds with deep, heaving sighs. Then they begin to get a bit edgy, tossing their huge heads and trotting about nervously. As the tension continues to build, sooner or later something has to break. It usually happens when the male wheels and charges his lady love. She is far too powerful in her own right to be intimidated by him, though, and she meets his charge head-on. The force of the impact is incredible. Again and again the beasts rush each other, butting and hooking powerfully with their curved horns. The whistles and moans have now given way to great bellows of anger. An hour later, the fight will grow increasingly savage, and it is now, when they are approaching exhaustion, that one of the animals will likely be injured. It is also about this time that the female will decide whether the male is worthy. If she decides to mate, she becomes no gentler, but instead of counterattacking, she begins to parry his lunges, as if to behave as coquettishly as the moment and her ponderous body will allow. Finally she signals her willingness to cooperate. The fighting is finished, but the worst is not yet over."

Horn face is an anagram of Oh, France! I find anagrams very interesting, and my favourite may well be Florence Nightingale, which turns into 'Flit on, cheering angel'.

Angel, can you make one with "The charge of the light brigade", which, if I remember well, took place in Sebastopol, Crimea's nice place.

Place carefully upright in bottle, light blue touch paper and retire. Good advice, but superannuation's not what it was.

Was thinking about it recently, pensions and that. Friend in Staffs has just been made redundant, it seems cruel to people in their late 50s.

50's, 60's are often perilous times of life financially, and many find themselves pushed out of jobs to make way for younger people. Even retirement funds can be depleted, since most didn't plan on retiring at that young an age.

Age is a barrier to many things but not so much as it used to be. Who said 60 is the new 40?

Long time for it to rain, too. Wasn't that the duration of the shower when Noah was finishing his Ark?

Ark of alloy would be more appropriate nowadays. At least it stands a lot more time than wood.
