Politician strategy in winning votes often results in religion being used as a political football.

politicians are different from prostitutes in that they make more money for fewer services rendered for the public good

Good political promises rarely materialize after the election.

Election time! Let's vote on whose ballots won't be counted in 2004.

Many absentee ballots were not counted in almost every state. In Maryland they only count absentee ballots if the number of absentee ballots exceeds the difference between winner and second place.

I am sure this is the same in most states. I believe about 70 - 80% of absentee ballots traditionally vote republican. If all the votes and absentee ballots were counted in the last election the popular vote would have been much closer, it may have put the popular vote in favor of Bush.

If you ask for it you may get it. Be careful what we ask for.

For goodness sakes, JTF! You are off-beam; somebody helpful around here will explain this thread's rules to you.

(Heck, I'll do it. Start with the last word of the previous post. Write two sentences only. Er...that's it, I think.)

(Sorry, did not understand)

2004 was a year to remember, time travelers arrived and told us what to expect. We changed what needed to change and time traveling will never be invented.

(Interesting, Fax! England doesn't have absentee ballots, stupidly...)

Invented in the far-gone past were many things securer than things made in the 90s. How does that work?

Work, why would things work as expected. Only a computer program will work as told, not as you were thinking.

Thinking man's crumpet, that's what they called Joan Bakewell. An American equivalent could be, maybe, Susan Sarandon or Mary Tyler Moore

Moore seems to have become a more controversial name than in the heyday of MTM. Perhaps Michael is channeling Thomas More?

Moore is a name you see fairly often lately, given the popularity of a recent movie. There were other folks with that last name, one a boxer and one a movie star, who were famous in other decades.

Decades of buying shoes - and I can still find something new and interesting. Anyone else in the mood for new shoes?

Shoes have not really agreed with me over the past few years. I have been wearing my Birkenstocks daily, even during most of the winter.

Winter has a bad name because people don't like the cold. I love waking up to a good thunderstorm, something which happened to me only yesterday.

Yesterday, I loved the rain, and to-day I love the rain too. I can't bear it being too hot.

Hot weather will come again. I only hope we aren't in for another drought.

Drought usually results in the rationing of water use, particularly at car washes and in the number of days/hours homeowners can water their lawns.

Lawns are such a difficult thing to keep! We pullup the weeds and yet plant wild flowers else where!

Where, oh where, is my copy of "As Seen from Above" by Dianogah? It is the only album that I can ever recall losing, and I've missed it dearly for a couple years.

(Yes, I could just buy another copy, but I believe that it must be around here somewhere, I'm just not looking hard enough.)
