What would you do? Text from an unknown number

Got a text from a 347-882-**** number.

Hey Steve! Long time! How r u?

Googled the number and got far too many Chinese websites associated with the number and the range of numbers surrounding it.

So?
1. Do you just ignore the text (or call if it's a phone call)?
2. Reply to the text ...
A. Who are you? Or...
B. Don't text me again. ETC....
3. Block the number without knowing?

Personally, I plan on ignoring it. If it by chance is a legitimate person who knows me and is trying to call me then hopefully he or she is shrewd enough to text me again but with a name, etc... attached to the text.

Yes. Technically its Stephen (that's why my username is TsarStepan). If they got the wrong name in the text, then I definitely would know it was a hoax. I'm thinking my phone number is somewhere in an database online or some compromised server, etc....

Why didn't you want post the complete number here? If you are concerned about protecting the privacy of spammers, you are a much better person than I.

Just in case that someone wasn't a spammer but a not so close friend/past associate of mine that had my number but had very poor phone/texting etiquette skills.
