Electrical, knob and tube, 3 way swtch

Hoping someone can fill in the section I've labeled as magic knob + tube. This is the information I have on a 3 way switch that is currently functioning in my home. I'm looking to re-wire but also understand how the current setup could actually work.

@timur,
Well the wire feeding the light is OLD K&T neutral. not a new 14/3 white which exits the 1st 3 way switch.

same holds true for the hot leaving the second 3 way. (it's new wiring not old K&T) which is what's found at the light.

I assume this means some unseen junction or connections?
