Question for an Electrician: Crimp Style Connectors

Why are crimp style connectors made of aluminium instead of copper? Which brand is best? I am not a minimalist and wish to go a little above and beyond for quality/safety purposes.

You are mistaken.

Crimp connectors are made of all kinds of metals, depending on their purpose.

Sounds like a fair question, but one for which I don't have an answer. Aluminum is cheaper, and the little selections sold at K-Mart and most auto parts stores are carried on inventory based on price.

@roger,
These are the terminals i'm referring to: http://www.amazon.com/360-Piece-Solderless-Electrical-Terminal-Assortment/dp/B00CTEA942/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-36&keywords=wire+terminal+set

@LDWalker,
I am replacing a contactor in my central A/C unit and want to crimp on some 90 degree 1/4" push-on connectors for easy change in the future. After looking for copper terminals for quite a while I decided I would ask...

@LDWalker,
The choice it is inconsequential.

@Ragman,
All I was thinking is that copper is the better conductor and aluminum corrodes quickly and many times it is not visible. I suppose dielectric grease would solve the issue.

@LDWalker,
Those are not aluminium.

They are tinned copper.

@timur,
brass, zinc coated...I did not see that in the description. It is on the box and visible when the picture is enlarged.

@LDWalker,
I doubt it, a bad translation probably.

Look here

In any case, they are not aluminium.
