BIRTH
So, is it working then? I love this stuff JL!
Birth and Islero are my favorites so far....
They are all so wonderful. I cannot pick.
I like the sketch the best out of this group.
I'm going with battle scene.
He's tremendously talented. I like the last two the best.
ooooh, I hadn't seen Night On The Edge... before. I like that one a lot too!
Thanks, guys. It's great to have "exhibited" stuff. Artists are, as I say, exhibitionists.
You might be interested to know, Edgar, that the two you like are the first two I have sold.
You should know that the colors are amazingly accurate. Joanne, your scanner is really good.
Kudos to little_k and Vivian for helping me get these posted for you. Without their help I am afraid they would not be here at all.
They do look good though this scanner and refurbished HP is very excellant as you say.
Kudos indeed. I'm most grateful.
They are all amazing. Something about 'Birth' really grabs me though, if I had to choose one.
Cav. Thanks. I'm glad someone responded to "Birth." It was done very quickly--one of those works that seem to paint themselves. By contrast, "Bird Song"--which will not be very popular--took me a long time. It was actually an exercise in composition. I get considerable personal satisfaction from its "balance", a very subjective satisfaction, I know. Islero is an iconic image with little compositional imagination, just an expression of the bull's immortal resentment at being killed in the ring. The light in his empty eyes indicates his burning memory. Thanks for your response.
Wow JLN thank you for the interesting discussion of you work. Birth is great and realistic I think. At least it is representational of child birth to me.
And Bird Song will I did notice the complementary colors are one of the main focus points now I have to look at it again for balance.
JL, you know I like your paintings! I am very happy to see them in such excellent color here,
thank you so much, Joanne, littlek, and Vivian.
I like Birth, and Night at the Edge of Town, the very best, but also like the others. When I first was lucky enough to see jl's work, night at the edge of town clanged a big bell for me, because that was right around the time I was standing with the Women in Black re the Iraq invasion. Knowing that kind of protest had no part in your doing the painting, jl, didn't matter, it resonated ever more for my own association. Past that I would like the painting anyway - the evocation of space, the composition, the luminosity....
