Hello. I would like information on euthanasia. I would like to know how to go about requesting to be put to permanent sleep or be assisted with the medication. Please help. I do suffer from depression. What is the cost and how effective is it? This not a 6mnth prob or 1 year prob for all d losers who think they opinions on how precious life is matters. I am tired of feeling d way i do for so long. Went on medication n seeing a doctor. I jus want things to be peacefull and the way it can be like that for me is by this. I would like to die with some dignity versus taking a gun to the head or suffering from feeling sick or vommiting with poison. I am thinkn about those i leave behind and how they would find me thats why looking at euthanasia as it does allow a death with dignity. Dont want any1 to say dont do this n there other ways. I had my passions. Speed and driving fast as well as sound n sound installations n fiddling. Playing pool and drifting etc. I lost all my passion for those things. Lost motivation for doin those things n vice versa those things do not motivate me anymre. They used to be the only things that keep me goin and ive now lost all go for them. Please could sme1 give me infor on how to be euthanized. Or assisted with the medication for my death

@meganers,
It would help if we had a clue as to where you are. Laws differ.

@meganers,
Meg before doing anything irreversible consider the possibility that your depression arises from presence, shortage or excess of some common substance in the bloodstream, like serotonin. One can't help wondering how many of us go to psychiatrist once or twice a week at $100 a shot when the difficulty could be mitigated for a few cents a day by a slight change in diet

...even the possible side effect of some prescription meds otherwise considered harmless by the Med Prof

@jespah,
It is illegal where i am and thats why finding out how to go about it from a country where it is illegal. Do i have to be a citizen of a country to qualify ?or can i get it if im there on a work permit? Or is all that not needed and it can be done via contact with a doctor when there?

@meganers,
You are not talking about euthanasia, Meganers...you are talking about assisted suicide.

Nowhere will you get help for an assisted suicide under the circumstances you have indicated.

You gotta do it on your own...or figure a way out of the depression.

What makes you think that anyone here at a2k can legally, morally, or ethically answer your question? Physician assisted suicide is also illegal in the US. Consult a immigration lawyer regarding the possibility of immigrating to Canada, etc....

@Frank Apisa,
I came across an article that states that if the depression is long term it can qualify. Hence the post. And it has been done before .

@meganers,
Thank you, Meganers.

I had read both of those articles before...and actually forgot about the Dutch experience with suicide for psychological reasons.

To set the record straight: I am in favor of allowing anyone who wants to terminate his/her life to do so with as much dignity as possible.

It doesn't matter to me if the reason for the suicide wish is physical or psychological pain...if a person wants to terminate his/her life...the person should be allowed to do so...and to do so assisted by medicines or other agents that can be prescribed by a physician.

I am reminded of the (possibly apocryphal) note left behind by poet/author Richard Brautigan after his suicide by a shot to the head: "Messy, isn't it!"

I hope you resolve your problems without recourse to a messy end.

@meganers,
I even left college for 2 years cause i hav no motivation to complete my qualification. There are many events that happend in my life which i will not talk about. But i am tired of feeling so low and down n out of things. Ive lost almost 25kg and gettn thinner every asks where im disappearing when they see me. I was almost 80kg now i am 55kg dropping. And i eat alot of home cooked food veg and take out as well. And no serious weight gain. It would make a normal person put on tons of weight.

My last response was before reading this response of yours.

Just as there are physicians who can help you end your life...there are competent professionals who can help you get your life back into order...and head you in a direction of more happiness and contentment.

I hope you at least explore that alternative substantially before heading in the other direction.

@Frank Apisa,
Thanks Frank. I also do not want to take the messy route. Tried with tablets n did it wrong n got horribly ill. And couldnt quite pull the trigger on the gun thinkn about what my family would see when they say goodbye. So when i came across the article got me interested as there is a way with dignity which is available.

@meganers,
For the record i used to be able to deal n ignore the problems in the past and try work around them and see them as one of those things and that the situation will change and in the more recent years i jus have not been able to cope and the hectic weight loss. And when my family see me they say i look terrible cause of the weight i lost and what they remember. And that just gets me even more down because i remem how full of life i used to be but i just cannot find any motivation or anything to get back on track at all. Ive tried and do try. But given the opportunity i will choose and take the assisted suicide route anyday to end this sadness and issue n problems.

@Frank Apisa,
I have and have been seeing a psychologist and i have been trying for almost 2 years now if i remember correctly or just over. And still spend days in bed its the best place in the world then having to deal with people and crowds and having to smile for no apparent reason.

Talk to your psychologist about this thread. Do it tomorrow, latest. Talk to him about it...and see what he/she has to say.

It may lead to something big.
