Painting signed J. Tower

We came across a lovely painting of a sailing ship that is very clearly signed "J. TowER" in the bottom right hand corner. We have done searches with no luck. Does anyone recognize the name?

@bobsal u1553115,
Lovely. The sailing ship has all these blurred lines on the edges as if coming out of a fog. There are birds flying around. I can make out three figures standing at the bow of the fully masted sailing ship/schooner. Just wondering about the artist and history, and yes, potential value. :-)

@JennHillier,
I can't see it too clearly from here. Perhaps if you'd post a photo or two? I could make a more accurate opinion if I could only see it clearer.

@bobsal u1553115,
I have to admit, I don't know how to upload photos here. Suggestions?

@JennHillier,
Copy the photo, open the BBC code in Reply, click on the img button and paste in the middle between the two brackets.

@bobsal u1553115,
If it is her own photo, it needs to be put onto a photo hosting site like photobucket or imgur (there are several photo hosting sites). The url should end in .jpeg.

Then add it to your reply window, cho0sing one of the photo hosting site options.

@ossobuco,
OK. Too much hassle working on a tablet, so tell me if this works.

@JennHillier,
It looks to me (I don't use facebook myself) to be your opening page.
Someone who does use facebook and is here at a2k may be able to help you on this.

@ossobuco,
Darn. I shared it with the public hoping it didn't matter if you used Facebook. :-) when I have time I will find an actual computer and share this properly.

@JennHillier,
If you are trying to do all this with a tablet, just give this one more go.

Mine's a samsung, but I'm sure the ipad works the same way.

Get your image up on screen.

Put your finger on the image and hold it there until an options box opens up to the side.

One option should be something like "view image".

Touch that option and the image should open up on its own, with the written code details above (normally ends in .jpg)

Copy that entire code (by pressing finger on code so it all turns blue and then pressing the "copy" option box.

Bring that copied code here and paste it into the reply box so you can post it.
To paste it, simply go to the blinking cursor in the reply box and press your finger on it until the paste option shows.

Before actually posting, put at the end, again with no gap between bracket and code.

Worth a try....

@Lordyaswas,
I'm afraid it didn't work for me. Kobos are not made for in depth internet activity it seems. So let's try this.

Yay! It works!

First impression is that its not so old - fifties? The squarish brush strokes in the sky on the right side make me think that. I like it. Need to think about it a little.

@bobsal u1553115,
Just wondering if you or anyone else has had any thoughts on the painting or artist. :-)

@JennHillier,
It has a nice frame, its more decorator piece than art. I like it $250 - $350?

My wife and I just acquired a similarly sea/ocean based painting in a similarly nice/fancy/hand crafted wooden frame by J Tower and were wondering the exact same things about this artist and any possible value to the painting itself.

This is an old thread, not sure if anyone is still checking. I have a very large painting by J. Tower also. It is Harpers Ferry as seen from Hilltop House. Very nice painting. I'd like to know more about this artist.
