those are at least some that my husband liked.

I absolutely love both - the recent one is a cool example of - to me - post modernism in film. It has some (hopefully) intentionally hilarious "tongue-in-cheek" moments, but I recently (out of curiosity) watched certain original and recent Gatsby scenes in tandem and even though I appreciate Leo DiCaprio more than most, there is no touching the performances of Redford and Farrow and Waterston.

So, my answer: the original Gatsby for sheer romance. Both for students of film or the curious.

LOVED Must Love Dogs! It really propelled me into following Diane Lane. <3 I MUST recommend her movie "Under the Tuscan Sun". There may not be an expected romantic outcome, but I adored this movie when I saw it - and still watch it occasionally. <3
