I have 1) some text in a Microsoft Word file and 2) text together with a small image (graphic?) in an Adobe PDF file.

I wish to combine the two files into one file that will contain all the text from the two files plus the image.

Is there a way to do it? How do I find it how?

You will need to copy the text from one and paste it to the other. The files can't be combined.

Unless you have the right software (you'd have remembered paying about 500 dollars for it) you don't have the software to edit the PDF.
