@Buttermilk,

It's not betrayal if it's true.

Like hell it is not a betrayal as I consider anything I would say to my wife as morally as private as if I had said it to a priest or my lawyer and that cover the period before we got married.

Also if she had recorded the conversation in Florida, my state, without his knowledge and permission she would be guilty of a felony.

Given the private nature of the conversation if I was him I would tell the NBA or anyone else to go to hell as far as any duty I would have to explained such a conversation and I would back the go to hell stand with all the lawyers that my billions could buy.

2) Did I mention he was a racist? If anyone cares to read did anyone recall his Black History month tribute? In 2011 Donald Sterling was going to admit 1,000 underprivileged children for free. Seriously, to commemorate Black History month you propagate the generalization that all black kids are poor?

My lord so the act of giving free tickets out to poor black children is a racist act in your very strange world view?????!!!!!!??????

Minorities not only players but fans and consumers make up over 80% of this game.

Blacks made up 80 percents of the fans that go to pro basketball games??????

Never seen figures but in Miami where the stadium is surrounded be a large black community there is always far more blacks on the floor playing then in the crowd.

I agree with Hawkeye AND Buttermilk. If the guy is known to be a racist - why would anyone be surprised by what he said here? He sounds to be a very confused, insecure and jealous man. Maybe he's afraid that his young, pretty interracial girlfriend will find a younger, athletic black man more attractive than his heavy pockets...maybe those were the concerns that his private thoughts were based upon.

But bottom line, since when are people not allowed to say what they think? I'm not saying what he thinks is something I agree with or endorse, but I do believe in his right to be able to say what he thinks and believes.

And yeah - if people are offended- as I would be if I refused to look at this conversation in context (which I'm unable to do as I only have one side of the story of how and when and why it occurred) - let them boycott as Buttermilk suggested.

@BillRM,
So his views are out in the open...So what?

He dates a 21 year-old gold digger despite being married to a woman for over 50 years...So what?

He doesn't rent to Blacks and Hispanics and pays them out in an undisclosed settlement.....So what?

He celebrates Black History month by allowing 1,000 underprivileged kids thus promoting the idea that "all black kids are underprivileged?".....So what?

He gets secretly recorded by a female with an ulterior motive your reaction:

OH @^$$^^$%^%^&^%%^U&RGTEGRERWAGE$%WT%#Q.....FELONY IN FLORIDA!!!!!!!!! LOL

@BillRM,
You said:

"Blacks made up 80 percents of the fans that go to pro basketball games??????"

Talk about reading fail notice I said "minorities" in the quoted text.

"My lord so the act of giving free tickets out to poor black children is a racist act in your very strange world view?????!!!!!!??????"

Another reading fail. I didn't say it was racist, I mentioned that it seems odd to commemorate Black History month by allowing 1,000 underprivileged kids for free. The thing is, is he allowing underprivileged white kids in for free? Or is he just letting in underprivileged black kids? If he is doing the latter my point was he is sending the wrong message. His reasons are ambiguous but the point is to celebrate Black History and letting kids in for free is another avenue to allow people to criticize social programs:

"You see, all them blacks get things for free, even the owner let poor blacks in for free at basketball games because you know, blacks get everything for free."

BTW he celebrated Black History in March when it's actually in February, talk about another fail. If he really wanted to do something positive to commemorate Black History, it would be best instead of free tickets, perhaps he would donate to housing projects and build jobs in the inner city. Giving people free stuff is no way to commemorate black history. It enables racist to criticize the impoverished and further stigmatizes people in underprivileged positions as people who only become productive when they are 'freely' rewarded. People even in poverty, must understand that nothing in life is for free.

"Never seen figures but in Miami where the stadium is surrounded be a large black community there is always far more blacks on the floor playing then in the crowd."

SMH stop with the mentioning of Florida you already have two fails in this thread so far, Florida is still recovering from the Zimmerman fail and the legal woes of stand your ground.

@Buttermilk,
So what is indeed the subject and any actions should not be base of him giving free tickets to black children! or any private repeat private conversation he had with a girlfriend and as far as him having a wife is concern that would also be a private matter between him and his wife.

As far as a black boycott of any NBA team by black fans it would be a small as in tiny drop in the bucket as far as the teams bottom lines is concern.

Always been amaze given the large percent of the players being black that there is hardly any black fans at the NBA games I had gone to over the decades.

Look, I don't care what this racist bastard does with his money. Hell, he could wipe his ass with stacks of $100 bill for all I care, but as far as public image is concerned as an owner he has a duty to uphold some sort of principle. I mean for God's sake the man is married to a woman for 50 years and he has a 21 year-old mistress on te side who for all and tense and purposes "outed him out." I do not deny what the young girl did intentionally, I don't. But whether he made those comments in private (not public) is not the point. Sterling was always known as a racist long before this whole tape recording came out.

"As far as a black boycott of any NBA team by black fans it would be a small as in tiny drop in the bucket as far as the teams bottom lines is concern."

You keep have your mind set on blacks as opposed to Hispanics (who Sterling mentioned along with blacks as people who steal). I guess you overlooked the fact that in the recording, Sterling told his mistress "you're the enemy." I have several Latino ticket holders who are now (after this season) are going to Boycott an entire season of Clipper games.

If Blacks and Latinos Boycott games Sterling will be hurt at the games not to mention his celebrity crutch is already ruined.

"Always been amaze given the large percent of the players being black that there is hardly any black fans at the NBA games I had gone to over the decades. "

Judging by this comment I suspect you don't live in Los Angeles probably some other small city, but um if you've ever been to a Laker/Clipper game there are thousands upon thousands of blacks and hispanics that go to these Clipper/Laker games (more so Lakers than Clippers). I don't know what city you live in but you see all kinds of minorities in the stands. Indeed if minorities boycott, Sterling will be hurt financially.

BTW remember I said minority, not black but watch your response will still target blacks.

Strange as I had repeated over and over and over that I am referring to Miami not a small city. nor with a small black population in fact once more the damn stadium is within walking distance of a large black community that does not trend to go to the games for whatever reasons.

As far as Latins joining any such boycott I do not see it at all likely with special note of the Cubans in Miami that both love basketball and on average are far more racist then non-latins.

@BillRM,
I don't know if you really live in that **** place called Florida I thought you were just talking.

Well the topic here is referring to the owner of an LA team so quite obviously I'm referring to Angelenos here. I don't care about the fan base in Miami I'm only concerned about what happens here. Besides, I live in a more populated city than Miami and believe me we Angelenos ban together black, white, hispanic especially when it comes to football and basketball and when nonsense like this happens we all come together.

If anyone cares Donald Sterling the idiot racist is getting his ass handed to him see the following from L.A Times:

"
Donald Sterling’s wife of more than 50 years describes his alleged mistress as a gold digger who seduces older, wealthy men and persuades them to shower her with gifts, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on March 7.

The Clippers team owner and a woman identified as V. Stiviano allegedly began an affair after meeting at the 2010 Super Bowl game and were still in the relationship as of the filing date, according to the lawsuit filed by Rochelle H. Sterling, who is described in the suit as "a married woman seeking to protect and recover community property in her individual capacity."

Rochelle Sterling alleges that her husband used community property to buy Stiviano a 2012 Ferrari, two Bentleys and a 2013 Range Rover, worth a total of more than $500,0000.

Sterling also allegedly gave Stiviano $1.8 million to buy a duplex on West 4th Street near the Beverly Center last December, according to the suit, which claims that Sterling additionally provided her with $240,000 for upkeep and living expenses.

[Updated at 8:15 p.m. PDT, April 26, 2014: In a court filing, Stiviano’s attorney, Mac Nehoray, argues that a gift cannot be revoked by the giver and that there is not “a peppercorn of a fact” that any fraud or undue influence was involved.

Nehoray further says that nowhere in the lawsuit does it say that “the feminine wiles of Ms. Stiviano overpowered the iron will of” Sterling, “who is well known as one of the most shrewd businessmen in the world.”]

Late Friday, TMZ posted an audio recording it said captures Sterling making racist statements in the course of an argument to a woman identified as V. Stiviano. The Times has not confirmed the authenticity of the tape.

David, you know, I guess I'm surprised that anyone is surprised. I mean Donald Sterling's reputation is such that one could say if you keep a vicious dog for a while and you know he's vicious, you can't be surprised when they bite someone. Donald Sterling's racial history is on the record. It has cost him money. It cost him his reputation long before this.

And so I'm kind of amazed that anyone is surprised at this. And frankly, I'm kind of surprised that the NBA is being let off the hook on this. You know, David Stern and the NBA owners knew what kind of a man Donald Sterling was long before this. And in the same way as, although I'm not equating the crimes, in the same way as after Aaron Hernandez was charged with these felonies, people wondered why the New England Patriots had him on their roster to begin with, one can sit here and look at and say, "Well, why did the NBA allow this man to own a team when they knew what kind of a person he was?

http://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/meet-press-transcript-april-27-2014-n90776

Longest ownership of anyone in the NBA......the league can and probably will throw the book and the man now but it will be an attempt to divert attention away from their own behavior, much as we saw with the NCAA and Penn St.

@hawkeye10,
BTW, does anyone know of the NBA has a morals clause for owners? Once they approve someone to own a team do they have freedom to make them sell for alleged moral deficiency? I know the the Dodgers of MLB were sold on demand of MLB, but that was because the owners could no longer afford to run the team.

So far there's no proof that Mr. Sterling actually made the recording. Moreover, I don't think that his girlfriend has admitted to making the recording and I don't think that she ever will, because she probably didn't make the recording.

If Mr. Sterling is such a racist, please explain to me why his present 21 year old girl friend, who is 1/2 Black and 1/2 Mexican stays with him?

Now... Obama is having his say on the matter, while American soldiers are in Poland training Polish soldiers for the next World War.

I get continuing to go to games. The players have fans and could use support. I'm not clearly for boycott, for that reason.

Race? I am an old white woman, and a woman in my family was from africa, including the child I love.

interesting...the same guy who many say is too racist to be allowed to own an NBA team got a lifetime achievement award from the NAACP in 2009. Maybe NAACP does not stand for what I think it does?
