While looking up pornography. i came across a website which had several pages of videos. upon clicking on a few i started to see images of children. in my panic i exit out of the site, and deleted my history. After reading up on other cases happening to people who do come across these websites accidentally and getting in trouble. I want to know. is it possible for me to report such a website without me remembering what it was. Or do I just leave it alone , forget the whole thing, and just go on with my life as normal? I would really just like to forget I ever came across that crap.

@Dranebrace,
Unless you went into the site and PAID to download these sites, you just came across them and no harm was done.

Now - if you want to report these sites that promote child pornography, send an anonymous letter to your local police dept. They all have internet departments now.

@Dranebrace,
You could file a report with your local police department, but without the website name or URL it would be like telling them you witnessed a car accident but don't remember what street it was on or what the cars looked like.

Buy some DVD's and quit jerking off at your desk. Obviously nothing good can come of it (no pun intended)

Because its important to at least seem innocent whether you are or not. If you don't have a link or an address, what are you reporting to the police anonymously or not? "Hey, there's a child exploitation site on line." Not much to say, not much to go on.

Stay a way from online porn sites.

Your future is in your hands, so to speak.

@Dranebrace,
So What? I suppose you peruse porn sites in order to do some sort of college report or perhaps as a good citizen to understand it so you can fight it like a superhero? Probably not. Probably just to jerk off.

@Dranebrace,
Do not worry about reporting such websites as there are so must of that nonsense out there that all a bore cop need to do is boot his computer to find this materials and they do not need your help in making more cases then they can handle by a factor of a hundred.

Your concerns is to not to be a victim of that bored cop looking to boast his arrested records with low hanging fruit such as yourself.

First thing to know is that both the browsers and the windows systems put out all kind of files in cache areas of where you have gone and what you had look at so that just removing browser history is no protection at all.

I tend to agree with other posters here that it is unsafe to go to anything but such porn sites as playboy where you can be sure that you are not going to run into anything illegal.

You risks are small but not zero after finding yourself on such sites so I would suggest giving a program such as evidence eraser and running it just to be on the safe side.

@Dranebrace,
Oh if for some strange reason you would still care to recover where those evil sites Urls to reported them they are still contain on your system in index.dat files and a nice free program by the name index.dat analyzer can be downloaded so you can get to them..

As I said windows put out backup files on top of backup files.

@BillRM,
I don't mean to come off as a scumbag here. I'm sorry if it seems that way.

@Dranebrace,
Just a scumbag in a sea of scumbags. But if you insist, b-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-d boy. Don't do that again. I could add 'asshole' or some exclamation points if you'd like.

Not to me you have not come across as a scumbag. I see zero wrong with adult porn using freely consenting actors or downloading such materials.

You do need to worry however about running into underage illegal porn while searching for or downloading legal porn however.

One college student look at what was in fact an FBI child porn honeypot web site without any illegal materials on it.

However just his visit was enough for the FBI to get a search warrant six months later and his home was raided and all his computers taken away.

They found no illegal material but for one thumbnail of a picture that was not on his computer and using that one thumbnail of a picture have him convicted of having child porn.

You do need to be damn careful when surfing the web for free porn as beside the risk of getting illegal materials on your computer you are increasing the likelihood of getting malware.

I long ago noticed a variety of websites that, when you visit them, you may be asking for trouble.
Porn
Gambling
Video Games
To name a few.
It's been a long time since I visited any such. But as I recall, the last porn link I clicked on refused to disappear when I X'd it. It simply replicated itself (or seemed to). There seemed to be no way to stop it other than rebooting the computer and deleting history. That was over 15 years ago and I will bet things have not changed. Any site you visit will remember you unless you take sophisticated steps to extricate yourself.

When you get a chance I would suggest looking up the case Minnesota State coach, Todd Hoffner and what he just went through for having a few second of videos of his young kids playing around nude on his cell phone when he turn in the cell phone for repairs.

He was charge with child porn taken off campus handcuffs and have his and his family life turn upside down for a year.

Even those a judge seeing the materials throw the case out over the loud objections of the prosecutor, the university found reasons to fired him and it took a year for him to get his job back by way of binding arbitration.

You should assume that if you have any piece of electronic in for repairs the technicians will be looking to added to their own personal collections of movies, music and so on and if they see anything that might in any way be questionable you are going to be talking to the police.

It would be great if you can report about the site. You can file a complaint with your local police. whatsoever.

An the likelihood is that he would then watch the police taking all his computers out to be examine and only return after many months to made damn sure he does not have CP himself.

Keeping as far away as possible from the issue is the best protection a citizen can have in the US at least as there is little sanity concerning the subject let alone commonsense.

@Dranebrace,
Can report such sites here:

http://www.justice.gov/criminal-ceos/report-violations#reportcp

Child Pornography

* To report an incident involving the possession, distribution, receipt, or production of child pornography, file a report on the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)'s website at www.cybertipline.com, or call 1-800-843-5678. Your report will be forwarded to a law enforcement agency for investigation and action.
* You may also wish to report the incident to federal, state, or local law enforcement personnel.

As to your concern of your own liability, don't worry. The assumption is people reporting such things are not themselves using it. Smile
